I'd been consistently training, mainly doing Crossfit, for years but had felt that my strength gain had really plateaued. Following a groin injury, I decided to make use of the time to switch my focus to boost my upper body strength.

To get myself back motivated and disciplined, I enlisted Luke to help build me a training program, as well as a nutrition plan, in order to help me achieve my goals. It did not take long into the program before I saw some serious progress and surpassed almost every milestone that I had previously set.

We spoke regularly and assessed my progress, which in turn kept me focused and disciplined with my training, which is something I've struggled with when going it alone. In the process I have learned so much about programming, movement skills as well as food and nutrition knowledge like I'd never had before.

I had been doing CrossFit for a couple of years but decided to sign up with Luke as a PT partly to help with 'shredding for the wedding' but also to work on improving strength and skills for CrossFit. Little did I know that a few months would turn into nearly two years as our wedding got postponed due to Covid!! Throughout that time Luke adapted programming to what I could achieve at home and supplemented virtual PT sessions with 'homework' for me to keep progressing towards my goals. 

I bombarded Luke with my goals, and he helped me to prioritise and set realistic goals to work towards. He helped keep me accountable and was always on hand to answer questions and share his wealth of knowledge. Now that the wedding is a distant memory, he's helped me stay fit (and safe) whilst working out during pregnancy, and I will most definitely be signing up for his services when I'm ready to start my post-partum fitness comeback.

What I like about Luke is that he's so approachable, nothing is ever too much for him and he will go out of his way to support his clients. Plus, he makes working out fun!! When I was going through a rough patch, he knew exactly what would cheer me up - putting on some boxing gloves and punching the crap out of the pads 😄

We worked on a nutrition and training plan that enabled me to still eat the foods I liked but with greater upstanding of the overall nutritional value each meal provided, I was able to track against daily and weekly goals, working towards a longer term weight loss target, while at the same time focusing on specific training goals in the gym, better understanding of the basics, improving on key gymnastic movements, and getting stronger all the time.

In 2012 I was treated for stomach cancer and underwent surgery to remove my entire stomach and half of my liver.  As a result, I had dropped about 50 pounds and was having a difficult time getting any strength or energy back.

Having had my ribs cracked open and mesh inserted makes lifting and moving my left side a challenge, but Coach Luke assessed my situation and created a workout schedule for me to slowly build muscle and gain back some much needed weight using a combination of Theraband, TRX, and dumb bells.

I feel much healthier, stronger and look much better than I have in years and definitely feel lethargic if I miss working out so I try not to do that.
